Residential Service

 

The Gender Centre provides temporary accommodation, in a safe and supportive environment to transgender persons who are homeless, distressed or otherwise in need of accommodation.

Requirements for entry to the Residential Program

The Residential Worker is available for intake and assessment on Wednesdays by appointment only. Clients are assessed on the following criteria:

  • Clients identify as transgender;
  • Clients are in need of stable, semi-supported housing; and
  • Clients are capable of progressing in a semi-supported situation towards independent living.

Because the Gender Centre residential program is semi-supported, we are unable to admit clients who require full-time supervision or care we cannot admit clients who manifest:

  • Serious mental health problems;
  • Serious substance abuse problems; or
  • Serious health problems requiring full-time supervision.
